THROUGH THE WALL
"I will draw the wall between us. On one side of the wall, I perform my positions of fear. The other side is yours – free your Fear and pass through it".
Through The Wall is based on my experience of hiding from russian missile attacks behind two walls of my apartment. I developed this performance to communicate the feeling of Fear in order to break through the invisible wall that exists between people in Ukraine and those who observe us from outside.
At the exhibition in Ko-op, you will see videos from previous performances in Plovdiv and Zagreb, along with drawings that people made expressing their fears on paper. When you look at those drawings, you can see that fear is a primal human emotion, and you can recognize yourselves in those fears: «I fear to love», «fear of not having freedom», and «I’m afraid of being weak»—the several I remember. The transformative aspect of the performance happens when you have enough courage to look at your fear and share it with others by drawing it.
I invite everyone to step into the shadowed area of fear, shed light on it, and accept it. Because, there, on the other side of the wall, you might find freedom.
I couldn’t tell you how it feels – to live through the wall of fear. But you know fear, don't you? Perhaps you can see it…
